Did you know that much of the art you enjoy on Evite’s invitations and cards is created by women artists? We’re proud supporters of women artists around the world. In recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the work and wisdom of artists Larsen McDowell, Oris Eddu of Breathe Live Explore, and Amber Vittoria. Read what they have to say about being a woman in the art world and their advice for other artists and art lovers.
Larsen: Being a woman and an artist are both so integral to my identity that it's hard to parse out. I think it has influenced where I've sought inspiration, from women artists in my family and at large.
Oris: Very interesting question.
Well, we know an artist to be someone with the talent and skills to conceptualize and produce creative work; as far back as the 17th century, creative works such as fiber arts and textile art have always been associated with women’s craft. Women have been and will continue to create meaningful and innovative works with their own freedom and creativity. Women bring an enrichment to art.
So for me, being a woman in the creative world is a natural. It’s interconnected. It has not only influenced an expression of empathy, empowerment and togetherness in my work, but also continually helps me nurture collaboration and community.
Amber: My lived experience as a woman has taught me to place and champion vulnerability, candor, and joy into each and every one of my works.
Larsen: Buy their work! Or, if you aren't in a position to do that, you can share painters and creators you love with friends. I have really built my business by word of mouth, and my favorite thing is when I hear a new client tell me they were referred to me by a past client.
Oris: Gladly, we live in a fortunate time of history when women can now freely participate and become creators of art. We should celebrate women in art by being supportive in the best way we can.
Buying from women artists whose work resonates with you is one way. Supporting could also mean signing up for their newsletters, engaging with their social media posts or as little as telling others about their work, showing a kind gesture or sending a compliment.
Amber: My favorite way is to collect, share, and champion the artists that resonate with you. The more visibility we have, the more space opportunity has to develop.
Larsen: Be curious, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Reaching out and connecting with other artists about how they structure their businesses has been so helpful for me.
Oris: Two simple words. Unapologetically brave.
One quote I’d love to share is: “To embark on the journey towards your goals and dreams requires bravery. To remain on that path requires courage. The bridge that merges the two is commitment”
Amber: Be as authentic to who you are as humanly possible. The more honest you are in your work, the more others can relate to that specificity.

Long story short, SignUp Sheets save everyone involved tons of time, avoid scheduling headaches and ensure everything runs smoothly before and during the event.
Creating a signup sheet has never been easier than with Evite! Here’s how to create a sheet that’s sure to make your event an absolute success:
When it comes to signup sheet information, there are some essentials to include regardless of what you’re organizing:
When adding your slot information, clearly define what people are signing up for, especially for a what-to-bring list or role assignments. If you want someone to bring healthy snacks for kids to enjoy after a game, specify that. You want your volunteers to feel confident in what they’re bringing and to make it easy for them to know what’s expected of them. It will save them time and stress (and you, too!). That being said, if you make your ask too specific (for example, asking for a hard-to-source item or something expensive), you may not end up with a volunteer for it. So be clear about what you expect, but also be reasonable!
Aside from providing the basic signup information, you can also add optional descriptions to both your entire signup sheet and individual slots. While not required, they can help guide your volunteers further and provide more information. You can add information about allergies, preferences and general info about the event. You can also add a wish list to make it easier for your volunteers to bring exactly what you need!
Signup sheet templates offer a ton of advantages for both organizers and volunteers and with Evite SignUp Sheets, you'll enjoy even more benefits than other digital and paper signup sheets! Some benefits our signup sheet templates offer include:
